When the situation called for it, they worked as selfless statesmen to keep the peace, and when they were no longer needed, they went into seclusion like any other hermit. During the Vedic period, the Rajgurus were legendary figures who were respected by the powerful even though most people didn’t know anything about them. Through their teachings, they helped people grow and helped them rise to positions of power. With their counselling skills, they helped calm the minds of troubled rulers.
